After a wedding, once when finally the stressing kinship is gone and a lot of money was spend for a wedding party, hopefully considered as the best ever, there is nothing that the fresh married couple needs more than Holidays! So we too!

But where? For us it was not a hard decision. We wanted sun, beach, cocktails and did I mention SUN? ;)
“Vamos a las Bahamas!” We decided to start our 14 – day honeymoon in Harbour Island, continue with Long Island, Hope Town and fly back from Grand Bahama. It was a great time in which we could collect a lot of nice memories. Here some examples:

Weddings in Bahamas

The people there are predictably friendly and very religious: the Bahamas are full of churches, with Baptists being the largest single group. But this devotion does not prohibit the activities of visitors nor is it intended to. The inhabitants are influenced by a very “libertarian” attitude about personal morals.

One of the biggest events in the Bahamian calendar is the so called “Junkanoo”. It is a street carnival held on Boxing Day (December 26) and New Year’s Day (January 1). The Junkanoo communities are “rushing” through the streets of the cities, especially Nassau, wearing spectacular costumes of crepe paper and playing Junkanoo music, which combines African rhythms with loud brass and cowbells. Together it is like a medley that veers on cacophony but is perfectly dancable. The costumes, made from scratch every year, are laid down on the streets when the party ends as a present and a free souvenir to bring home!

To the beaches and the opportunity to get a nice sunburn I do not have much to explain. It is like it is: P-E-R-F-E-C-T! For Bahamas wedding accommodation there are many excellent venues available.

Dos Palillos literally means two sticks, what visitors immediately suggests that you can eat Asian food. That’s right, but Dos Palillos is also an authentic Spanish bar. The first part (bar) stayed Spanish where the sticks refer to toothpicks, which traditionally is used for tapas. You sit on chairs at the bar. If you walk through, you get into Asian spheres: here you can sit down and the food is prepared for your eyes.

Chef Albert Raurich was a decade employed with Ferran Adria’s El Bulli. He is assisted by his Japanese wife Tamae Imachi. You can therefore assume that their snacks are of high quality. In the kitchen is no fusion, but purely Asian with a personal touch and the prices are reasonable.

Dos Palillos is located on Carrer Elisabet 9, El Raval, metro station: Catalunya or universitat. For more information: http://www.dospalillos.com/. Need Barcelona accommodation for your vacation?

Considering the fact that in Andorra the petrol is about € 1,13/l, a package of cigarettes € 1,50 and the alcohol about 20% cheaper than in the rest of Europe one can surely say that Andorra is some kind of tax haven for addicts. But that is not the only thing. I have seen a lot of people or even friends spending hundreds of Euros there Andorra travels and accommodationfor technologies and clothing. So for those people who want to go shopping in one of the last tax-free regions in Europe: ANDORRA IS A HUGE DUTY FREE SHOP! But please do not think that this is all!

In Andorra it is no problem to rent a car for less money and discover its amazing landscape. The silence of the Mountains and the ripple of waterfalls in the lower regions or the beautiful situated slopes, perfect for all kinds of snow activities, in the higher regions. That is relaxing…

Just to inspire you I will give a shortcut about my own trip to and through Andorra. My friends and I, we decided to go on a 3-day-trip from Spain to Andorra. So we rented a car (€ 72/4 days) and equipped with ambition and a an Andorra guide we started ;)

1. Day - shopping in Andorra La Vella, spending a lot of money for my girlfriend, partying
2. Day - trip to the mountains, Pick nick at a lake
3. Day - climbing in the mountains, sunbathing at another lake
4. Day - visiting old villages on the way back to Spain and bemoaning that the trip is already over

So as you see, Andorra is a country with many faces and to be able to enjoy all of them you will need at least 4 – 5 days. We really appreciated the time in Andorra. The prices, the landscape and of course the people as well. For Andorra accommodation Holiday Velvet offer short-term holiday and vacation rentals.
